Manulife Visitors to Canada Insurance

Manulife Visitors to Canada Insurance (effective October 2023) provides emergency medical coverage for people who are not enrolled in a Canadian provincial health plan — including visitors, immigrants and permanent residents awaiting provincial coverage, work permit holders, Super Visa applicants and holders, foreign students, and Canadians returning home after a long absence. Three plan tiers match different health profiles and budgets: Basic, Standard, and Enhanced.

Available plans

  • Standard Plan — Covers travellers with no recent medical treatment. Excludes any pre-existing condition that received treatment or medication in the 180 days before the effective date. Includes emergency dental ($4,000 + $300 acute) and AD&D ($25K / $12.5K). Up to age 85 (86+ not eligible). No medical declaration required.
  • Enhanced Plan — Most comprehensive; the typical Super Visa choice. Uses the standard 180-day stability rule — stable pre-existing conditions may be covered. Includes all Standard benefits. Medical declaration required for ages 55–85.
Super Visa: All three plans qualify when purchased at $100,000+ for 365 days. Coverage amounts: $15K, $25K, $50K, $100K (Super Visa eligible), or $150K (Super Visa eligible).
